Former Indian national cricket team opener Akash Chopra lashed out at batsmen including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma after they fell in the Adelaide Test match against the Australian national cricket team.
Aakash Chopra felt that batting failure was the key reason behind India’s national cricket team’s humiliating 10-wicket defeat in the second Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Indian batsmen fell hard in the Adelaide Test
The visiting team’s batsmen looked miserable in the pink-ball Test match against Australia. In the first innings, the Rohit Sharma-led side were bowled out for 180 runs in 44.1 overs.
Nitish Kumar Reddy top scorer for the side with 42 runs under his belt while KL Rahul and Shubman Gill chipped in with 37 and 31 runs respectively.
In the second innings, the Indian batsmen fared even worse and the team was bowled out for 175 runs, setting a target of 19 runs for the hosts.
Nitish Kumar Reddy again top scored for the team with 42 runs in his bag, while Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill contributed 28 runs each.

Speaking in a video shared on his official YouTube channel after the 10-wicket loss to the Indian team in the Adelaide Test, Aakash Chopra slammed the batsmen for not being able to play even 50 balls in the second innings. He elaborated:
“Where did we go wrong? That’s the big question. It’s true that it was a failure to bat, not once but twice. The decision to bat first was absolutely correct. In the first innings when you bowled out for 180, you could tell it was happening However, in the second innings, the pitch became even.
“There was certainly some help in the first innings. If you’re not going to bowl 80 overs in two innings in a Test match, that’s a problem. There’s not a single person in the team who said they’re going to bowl 80-100. Not a single player has played 50 balls , but nobody played 50 balls.”
In the end, the weaknesses of the Indian batsman – Aakash Chopra – were exposed once again
Aakash Chopra went on to say that the batsmen’s inability to play longer innings cost Team India the match. He added that Australia’s bowlers have once again exposed the team’s ‘batting weaknesses’ and things look bleak for India.
“In the end, the weaknesses of the Indian batting were exposed once again. When the wickets fall with the new ball, Virat Kohli is at No. 4, you expect a lot from Rishabh Pant, but he hasn’t played a big shot in this one so far seriesand Rohit Sharma at No. 6, not looking good. Our batting let us down. That’s one big reason for India’s loss at Adelaide,” said Aakash Chopra.
