The Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, refuses to attend the 20 group (G-20) Summit in Johannesburg this year, in protest by the South Government Controversial Land Foishure Bill.
The bill, signed last week, allows the South Authorities -expropriating land “for a public purpose or in the public interest,” promising “a fair and equitable compensation” to those affected by the bill. Although most South citizens -African are black, most owners are white, and this disparity has been a topic in South -Africa for years.
The law also allows expropriation of land without compensation, but only in circumstances in which it is “fair and equitable and in the public interest”.
The G-20 summit is scheduled to start on November 22, but in a publication on social media Wednesday, Rubio definitively wrote that “it will not be”.
