The Democrats of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee asked the Administrator of the recently confirmed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Lee Zeldin, to answer questions about the administration pause Trump on the funds of the inflation reduction law (anger).
The members specifically cited recent reports that in a letter to the recipients of subsidies under the IRA Solar Program for all programs, the EPA said that all climate and infrastructure aid had stopped. The letter stated to the executive orders signed by President Trump to accelerate the development of fossil fuels.
The members cited Zeldin’s testimony during his confirmation audience before the Committee, when he was asked if he “believed (s) that the President or the Executive Branch could ignore the Congressional Decisions and instructions.” Zeldin replied, “If it is confirmed, I promise to respect all the statutes duly promoted from Congress.”
They continued to ask for the legal justification of the pause of the plot for all funds, as well as when the EPA has the intention to end the pause for the plot for everyone and other EPA scholarship programs.
The letter is signed by a member of the Sheldon Whitehouse ranking (Dr.i.) and the whole democratic membership of the group, sens. Ed Markey (Mass.), Lisa Blunt Rochester (del.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), Bernie Sanders (I -Vt.), Adam Schiff (Calif.), Alex Padilla (Calif.), Angela Alsobrooks (MD. ) And Jeff Merkley (Ore.).
The Order of Trump, one of the flight signed within a few hours of its inauguration, led the federal government to “immediately stop the funding” of the IRA and the smaller bipartisrative infrastructure law. Two days later, the Office of Management and Budget (Shado) clarified the order, saying that it is specifically related to the mitigation of climate change and activities related to the load of electric vehicles.
The fight for the order echoes that the furor surrounding a shadow note was published earlier this week freezing all federal grants and loans. This order caused Bipartisan pushback and chaos on services such as Medicaid.
Democratic legislators have called the move a violation of the impulse control law, which limits the power of the executive branch to retain the funding approved by Congress. Russell said, Trump’s candidate for the Director of the Shadow, he said in his confirmation audiences that he believes that the law is unconstitutional.
The White House terminated the note days later and two federal judges have ruled against the administration.
