Dwyane Wade reveals cancer diagnosis, renal surgery


Chicago (Wgn) – basketball Famer Hall Dwyane Wade revealed on Thursday that almost half of his kidneys was removed by the end of 2023 after doctors found a tumor.

Wade, who turned 43 earlier this month, said that his father’s journey with prostate cancer inspired him to see a doctor after suffering stomach problems, ramps and difficulty urinating. While kidney cancer does not usually cause symptoms at the beginning, they can be developed over time, the The Mayo Clinic explains. These signs often include blood in the urine, a loss of appetite, a pain consisting of the back or side, fatigue and unexplained weight loss. It is also not clear what can cause kidney cancer, although the Mayo clinic says that those with certain inherited conditions or a family record of kidney disease are at high risk.

“My own trip to make this surgery, I think it was the first time my family, my father, my children, they saw me weak,” he told the podcast. “This moment was probably the weakest point I’ve heard in my life.”

Wade said it was his family that gave him strength to persevere.

“What I saw in the midst of myself through my illness, I saw my family that I may not always speak, maybe not always agree,” said the veteran athlete. “I saw everyone appearing for me and I was there for me and in this process, in my weakness, I found strength in my family.”

Wade was written in the first round of the NBA project in 2003 after playing Marquette University at the University. He spent 13 seasons with Miami Heat before a one -season career with the Chicago Bulls and a partial season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The basketball star finished his career with heat.

The Triple NBA champion is a partial owner of the Utah Jazz.
