Manchester United plans for the new stadium brought together last night after receiving the green light from the Trafford Council.
United is looking for or building a new place of 100,000 seats to replace Old Trafford or renovate current soil and increase capacity to 87,000.
The club will decide which time they will start at the end of the season, but both will require the approval of the local council given the impact on the local economy and infrastructure.
This was approved by verbal voting at a meeting of the City Hall last night.
The Coun Liz Patel, an executive member of the economy and regeneration at the Trafford Council, said: “I am delighted that she approved these plans for the Council Executive Government. As the report says, this is one of the most significant opportunities for the renovation of urban urban trade, and the results will be excellent for the area and the surrounding region.
“This is an extremely exciting project and cooperate with our partners and private developers, we will ask us to create thousands of new homes, new neighborhoods and world classes for Manchester United stadium.
“Together with Manchester United, Greater Manchester with combined authority and the Salford City Council, we will make sure that these plans benefit from all, including local residents, companies and football fans.”
It is estimated that the new stadium could add £ 7.3 billion in economics and create 90,000 jobs.
The plans have already been supported by a Government of work that can see economic and social benefits such an extensive regeneration plan.
United would finance the development of the stadium, but public money is likely to be used to remodel the surrounding area.
