Former President of the Chamber Nancy PelosiD-Calif., underwent hip replacement surgery overseas Saturday after falling earlier this week in Luxembourg, a spokesman said.
“Earlier this morning, Speaker Emeritus Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is recovering well,” Pelosi’s spokesman Ian Krager said in a statement.
“Speaker Pelosi is grateful to the US military personnel at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and the medical staff at Kirchberg Hospital in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness.

Pelosi, 84, tripped and fell after a group photo with other lawmakers and officials during a visit to Luxembourg for the Battle of the Bulge memories, the Wall Street Journal reported.

“While traveling with a bipartisan congressional delegation to Luxembourg to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation,” Ian Krager, her spokesman, said in a statement Friday.
The US Embassy in Luxembourg posted a picture of Pelosi on her X account on Friday.

“We welcome NASA (Administrator) Bill Nelson and members of Congress to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg and Belgium,” he said. “The sacrifices of the brave soldiers of World War II echo the past, reminding us that each generation must continue the fight for freedom and democracy.”
