West Ham are clearly in need of a striker this January, with Graham Potter targeting RB Leipzig’s Andre Silva, however, should that deal fall through, the Hammers have an interesting alternative.
Silva’s three goals in eight appearances in the 2024/25 season (transfer market) is a reasonable enough return, and German soccer expert, Florian Plettenberg, noted X that the Irons are pushing hard for the player.
The reporter suggested the east Londoners want the 29-year-old on a six-month loan, although other Bundesliga clubs are understood to be interested in the player.
RB Leipzig appear to be open to a deal for the striker as there has been no media reaction since the story broke.
??? BREAKING | @WestHam now trying to sign RB Leipzig striker André Silva on a 6-month loan!
New conversations today. The decisive round of negotiations is scheduled for Friday. Some Bundesliga players are also interested in Silva.

West Ham have apparently agreed a deal for the Dutch midfielderand in the Netherlands where they could look for their alternative to Andre Silva.
Plettenberg also said that Ajax’s Brian Brobbey would be followed if the Silva deal did not go through for any reason.

The 22-year-old Dutchman has an impressive four goals and an assist in just six Eredivisie games this season (transfer market), although it is not clear whether they will look at him on loan or permanently.
It is also unclear who is currently running the East London club’s transfer business, after it was revealed West Ham’s technical director, Tim Steidten, should have been sidelined.
Either way, Graham Potter can’t let domestic politics get in the way of strengthening his first-team squad.
While the Hammers are not in immediate danger of relegation, if results start to go against them, a lack of strength in depth could be the reason why they are relegated towards the business end of the campaign.
