Ravichandran Ashwin Named ‘World’s Most Valuable T20 Batsman’
Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin he praised England opener Phil Salt as one of ‘most valuable T20 batsman in the world.’ Ashwin shared these remarks in a video on his YouTube channel.
Despite Ashwin’s high praise, he admitted that Salt does not enter the series in top form. The recently retired off-spinner pointed out that Salt’s performance is a work in progress International League T20 (ILT20) 2025 for Knight Riders of Abu Dhabi were irresistible. Salt managed a laborious 70 in three appearances, falling short of the expectations set by his reputation as a game-changer in T20 cricket.
“Phil Salt played for Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. We can say that he might be the most valuable T20 batsman in the world. So if we look at his performance with that in mind, he’s not going in very well. He scored a 70 and that was a very tough 70,” Ashwin said.

Salt, who made his T20I debut in 2022 against West Indieshe became a key part of England’s batting line-up. With 38 T20I matches under his belt, he has amassed 1106 runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 165.32. His aggressive approach at the top of the order and his ability to adapt to different match situations make him a significant asset to his team.
