The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) addressed recent media reports suggesting that The Indian cricket team may refuse to wear the jerseys with the name of the host country, Pakistanfor Champions Trophy 2025. These reports have sparked widespread speculation and concern about the Indian team’s stance on the upcoming tournament.
Namely, reports suggested that the BCCI was reluctant to display the name of the host country due to ongoing political tensions between the two countries. This provoked a sharp response Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)who strongly criticized the BCCI’s stand. A PCB official accused the BCCI of intertwining politics and sports, stating that such actions would only harm the spirit of the game and create unnecessary divisions within the cricketing community.
Now the Indian Cricket Board has clarified its stand on the matter. On Wednesday the BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia explained the committee’s position regarding the jersey guidelines for the upcoming event. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Saikia confirmed that BCCI will fully comply International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament rules.
Saikia specifically emphasized that the Indian team will adhere to all ICC protocols regarding the official logo, which includes the name of the host country as part of the design on the team jerseys. He further explained that the BCCI’s decision is in line with the directive of the international governing body and that the board has no intention of deviating from these established guidelines.
“We will follow all ICC guidelines. We will follow the ICC directive,” Saikia said.
