“How about Elon Musk, perhaps the president’s most visible adviser, giving two Hitler salutes last night at the president’s televised rally?” Murphy asked Stefanik on Tuesday morning as he appeared before Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“No, Elon Musk didn’t make those greetings,” Stefanik said. “I wasn’t at the rally, but I can tell you that I’ve been at a lot of rallies with Elon Musk, who loves to cheer when President Trump says, ‘We’ve got to send, you know, our American space program on mars “Elon Musk is a visionary, I’m looking forward to his work at DOGE,” the Department of Government Efficiency.

Musk attended Trump’s inaugural parade on Monday, where he spoke to supporters and was accused of giving a Hitler-style salute to the crowd.

Murphy continued to press Stefanik on the matter, rattling off a list of “white supremacist groups and neo-Nazi groups” who had described and celebrated Musk’s gesture as a Hitler salute.

“Evan Kilgore, a right-wing political commentator, wrote in X: ‘Shit, Elon Musk just did Heil Hitler at Trump’s inauguration rally. That’s amazing. We’re so back.'” Andrew Torba, who is founder of right-wing Christian nationalist social platform Gab, said “amazing things are happening” … as he zoomed in on the image, Ohio’s Proud Boys chapter posted the clip, on a Telegram channel with the text “Heil Trump”, go say Murphy about the examples.

“Again and again last night, white supremacist groups and neo-Nazi groups in this country rallied around this visual,” Murphy said. “Are you concerned that those elements of the neo-Nazi and white supremacist element in America believe that what they saw last night was a neo-Nazi salute?”

“What concerns me is that this is … these are the questions that you think are most important to ask the UN ambassador,” he said. “I have a very strong record on fighting anti-Semitism. We just had a historic election where President Trump won historic support from American voters because of his strong leadership on fighting anti-Semitism , which has been a scourge across the country, which has soared since October 7. Therefore, I intend to bring moral clarity to this position and continue to speak as a voice, as a beacon of light that condemns anti-Semitism at the United Nations, which is representative of President Trump’s record and President Trump’s campaign promises.”

“I just don’t believe it if he is a member of the staff “I made the same gesture last night, that there would be no comment from you and the others,” he said. “So I want to make sure that our work has credibility and that credibility comes with declaring anti-Semitism and anti-Semitism behavior when it comes from both. the right and the left.”
