Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has reportedly made the decision to stay at Anfield and continue to fight for his future at his current club.

The Uruguayan national team player has had problems getting into the Liverpool team and stay there regularly, since he wasn’t always the most consistent and reliable performer.

However, so far it seems that there is no truth the story of Nunez’s departure from Liverpooldespite ties to the Saudi Pro League, according to The Athletic.

Nunez showed his qualities with a superb appearance from the bench to help Liverpool beat Brentford 2-0 at the weekend, with the 25-year-old scoring both goals in stoppage time.

“The fans need to know – I traveled to Manchester to give them a chance but they didn’t want me!” – Which Man Utd legend met with the club about becoming president?

If Nunez could do that more regularly, he would surely stay and play a big role in LFC for many years to come, but perhaps unsurprisingly there is some uncertainty there.

For now, however, The Athletic suggests the player himself wants to stay, so it’s possible we’ll see him continue to work hard and do his best to move up Slot’s order.

Liverpool fans may have mixed feelings about this, as Nunez could be a decent player that the club could sell to raise money to invest in other areas of their squad.

Liverpool have a lot of options in attack, so Nunez will certainly continue to have an uphill battle to earn a place in the starting 11 Slot.

That could perhaps change if Mohamed Salah leaves at the end of his contract in the summer, but that would also certainly mean a major boost is needed in attack, and Nunez is unlikely to be seen as enough to fill that void.
