Helicopters. More helicopters. Men in uniform salute. Military aircraft at the White House. American flag. A man is looking into the distance. A bald eagle. Pointing. Another American flag. More helicopters. More pointing. Another greeting. Pointing the thumb up. Silhouette.
It would be easy to be a trailer for any of the seemingly endless Hollywood movies about threats to the life of the American president starring Gerald Butler or Morgan Freeman; instead, it’s a 35-second hype video for Donald Trump’s second president.
Even before Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, his team had begun monitoring the official White House website. Just after noon late Monday, visitors were greeted with a picture of the White House before the video played on the screen, ensuring that every visitor knew exactly who was running the country.
When the video ends, it is replaced by a large image of Trump pointing into the distance with the words “America is Back” above it.
“Every day I will fight for you with every breath in my body,” the post reads. “I will not rest until we deliver the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and deserve. This will truly be America’s best season.”
An archived web page Sunday revealed that he previously had a picture of President Joe Biden sitting on his desk in the Oval Office next to the words “Biden President.”
In one of his final acts in office, Mr. Biden announced in a press release that he was deliberately pardoning some of his family members to avoid being charged with “frivolous and politically motivated investigations.” The press release has now, however, been removed from the site.
Biden pardoned his brother James and his wife Sara, his sister Valerie and her husband John Owens, and his brother Francis.
Asked about the pardon on Monday, Trump said he wished Biden had not done so, but declined to comment further.
