Trump says he will delay the ban on TikTok, showing solidarity with US ownership

TikTok users hate in the US on Saturday night, but it won’t be long.

President-elect Donald Trump posted on Social Truth Sunday morning that he will issue an executive order on Monday that will “extend the moratorium before this law goes into effect, so that we can come to an agreement to protect our national security.”

Even before TikTok went down, Trump had said he would “unfailing” extend the company 90 days.

In his letter on Sunday, Trump also presented his “preliminary idea” of what the deal would look like, describing it as “an agreement between the current owners and/or new owners where the US would get 50% ownership.”

Bipartisan majorities in both houses of Congress issued the order last April which could force ByteDance to sell TikTok or see it banned in the United States; the law was quickly signed by President Joe Biden. Trump, who tried to force ByteDance to sell TikTok during its first periodhe loudly protested the ban this time.
