Barcelona activates the release clause for Joan Garcia with goalkeeper Espanyol that will sign on Friday

Barcelona confirmed that they had activated the clause about Joan Garcia and signed a goalkeeper from a rival in Espanyol.

The 24-year-old will join Spanish champions for € 25 million after he decided to leave the club he played with for the last nine years.

Garcia is expected to be the first choice under Hansi Flick, and Wojciech Szczesny has offered the opportunity to stay on his number two.

If a pillar signs a new one-year contract, he leaves Marc-Andre Ten Stegen to Limbo and will probably move on, especially as he watches to strengthen his place in the German squad ahead of the World Cup in next summer.

I gave everything for Espanyol – Garcia

Garcia, who will sign a six -year contract with Barca on Friday this morning, posted on social networks emotional goodbye to Espanyol fans.

He said, “It’s time to go to our separate paths. Today is my turn to say goodbye to the club that has been my home since I have been since I was 15. During all this time, I tried to grow every day as a footballer and as a person, always with humility, effort and pride to defend Espanyol.

“I gave everything I had inside to help the team, to present this badge with maximum dedication and live what it means to wear this shirt. I know that this decision will not be easy to understand. I do not ask for you to do it. But I want you to know that it was a very thoughtful decision, not only about my career, but even what Best For Club is.

“Thank you heartily to all the coaches, teammates, staff and all the people who are part of the club’s daily life.”
