Alexander Zverev touched on Halle, Germany, to compete in the ATP 500 permanent tournament, just a few days after a strenuous loss in the Stuttgart final. From him, the girlfriend of Sophia Thomall, who joined him to support her and cheered him up from the stands.
Zverev started his campaign Grasscourt on the domestic soil in Stuttgart, aiming to re -set the season, which has somewhat insidious from his winner at the Australian Open in January. He put in a solid effort throughout the tournament and reached the finals, where he went to his head with Taylor Fritz.
While the German gave everything and kept his soil, Fritz was simply untouchable that day. The American performed an impeccable performance to ask for his fourth ATP title on the grass and the ninth overall level, beating the world no. 3 with a commanding result 6-3, 7-6 (0). He fired 11 aces, did not face one break and won a whopping 88% of his first serving points.
Zverev seems to have been a disappointment as he was preparing for Halle. He hopes for a strong running, but the path to the title will not be smooth. Still, with Sophia Thomall beside him, he will have all the support he needs to refuse this week.
The loss of Alexander Zverev of Taylor Fritz in Stuttgart was his fifth in a row against the American, with a series of going all the way to Wimbledon last year. After the match, Zverev could not refrain, joking that he had seen Fritz enough for a while.
Alexander Zverev was not ashamed to express frustration after passing on to Taylor Fritz in the Open 2025 Boss Open in Stuttgart, which is April after BMW Open Open in April.
During his racing speech, Zverev jokingly said that he was “tired” to face Fritz and hoped he would not see him over the net for at least the next two to three years.
“Taylor, I’m tired of you. I don’t want to see you anymore in the next two to three years. Please stick away from me. Don’t come to Germany anymore,” he said.
On Wednesday, June 18th in Halle, Zverev will face Marcos Giron, while Fritz continues her Grasscourt campaign at Queen’s Club, where he competes in the current HSBC Championship.
