When it comes to football idols, few are bigger than Lionel Messi–a weth winner Ballon D’Or who considered the greatest player of all time.
So when your father is that Lionel Messi, maybe you would assume he’s the only footballer you would ever look at. But this is not exactly the case for Messi’s three sons-Thiago, Mateo and Ciro-Koji have their own list of modern heroes.
In a recent and rare interview with Simple footballArgentina and Inter Miami Superstar were asked what the current players of his sons – who all play on Inter Miami’s Academy Academy – harder.
He appointed five stars Stanout: Real Madrid duo Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Jr., Barcelona star Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski, and Erling Haaland of Manchester City.
“They look at everything, they know everything,” Messi said. “They talk to you about Mbappé, Vinicius, Haalanda, Lewandowski, Lamina. They follow everything – not necessarily want to be like them, but they know everything.”
Messi especially focused on one name: Lamine Yamal, Barcelona Wonderkid often compared to Messi – not just because of the club relationship, but also because of his style of the game.
The Spanish wing player, 17, is one of the favorites that will land at this year’s Ballon D’O or after a stunning season in which he recorded 18 goals and registered 25 Barçu assists, helping them raise the historic ton of La Liga, and the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey.
“It’s impressive. What he shows, what he does, what he did is impressive,” Messi said. “He was already a European champion. He is still 17 years old, in the growth process and I think he will grow even more as a player; he will add things to his game.”
He also noticed a joint trip, both started on the right wing.
“I just started, and he started on the right. Maybe in a few years he will play different playing,” Messi added. “There is no doubt that he has barbarian skills; today he is already one of the best in the world.”
With Messi as their father and stars like Yamal, which is being viewed, don’t be surprised if one of his boys becomes the following name illuminates world football.
