In December 2024, West Ham United striker Michail Antonio was involved in a terrifying car accident that left him a broken thigh lush and struggled for his life.
Antonio was trapped in his Ferrari for more than 45 minutes after collapsing to the tree in Epping, Essex. He was eventually transferred to the hospitalwhere the next day was undergoing surgery.
Remembering the moment he saw his car’s wreck on a spy week later, Antonio said BBC One’s Morning Live: “I just realized how close I was dying. I saw the pictures, but it was personally 10 times up. The car was an absolute mess.”
Exceptionally, just a few months after the collision, Jamaica International is already returning to training – which is a testimony to his determination and resistance. In order to mark this progress, Antonio shared an emotional and inspiring video on Instagram, offering fans to see his recovery journey.
The described “Faith will overcome all the challenges,” the assembly begins with the footage of him in the hospital bed and follows his spores, determined steps as he relies on how to walk and renew strength in his injured leg.
The video also contains touching scenes from its return to the London stadium in March, where he was met by West Ham fans, as well as footage of their first steps back on the training ground.

Antonio’s video quickly attracted the admiration and support of current and former teammates as well as fans.
“The brother of respect,” Vladimir Coufal wrote, while Thomas Soucek and former Hammer Sébastien Haller – who overcome the testicular cancer in 2023 – reacted cordial emojis.
Singer Alexandra Burke, who was engaged to the former West Ham teammate, Antonia Darren Randolph, commented, “You’re so blessed. God is so good.”
