Tuchel admits that England is ‘frozen’ Senegal in shock defeat

Thomas Tuchel says his side in England felt “frozen” against Senegal after losing 3-1 on the city field in Nottingham.

Three lions rounded off their international break with a friendly against the African side, which recorded the first victory for the continent against them.

The early goal of Harry Kane was not enough to deny Senegal in Midlands, who hit twice in the second half in the damn Tuchel until his first defeat.

And he gave a dark assessment of the performance, admitting that it was not good enough on the field.

In an interview with print after the game, he said: “Yes, of course, it’s a disappointing result. We’re not sure we didn’t deserve a little more results.

“We felt a little frozen, not active enough during the game. We defended ourselves for a long time in the first half, and then our best period came when we were 2-1.

“We acknowledged the first two targets – very simple goals, we have to defend ourselves better.

“The reaction was good after we fell. We were suddenly more active, free, more fluid, more aggressive. We had a great chance of equalizing.”

Jude Bellingham got off the bench late and thought he had grabbed the equalizer to achieve 2-2, only to exclude the goal for the offside.

At this point, Tuchel added, “I just saw it, it looks more shoulder than in my hand. I saw it as a goal to check, it’s the first time the judge revides the goal. So it is a mistake, so take it. Either that is not a mistake, so the goal is.”

The German boss was also criticized for taking off Harry Kane, but did not replace him with an attacker, despite the backlog.

Ivan Toney entered the last moments, but it was too small, too late at that moment.

Tuchel said, “It’s been over three minutes. I think Ivan is a specialist in these situations, we have created a lot of chances with Morgan Gibbs-White, EBS (Eberechi eze), Morgan Rogers is Jude (Bellingham) in fluid positions.

“I think Ivan is the strongest when we have a lot of balls in the box, and that was the case so we prepared it in 80 minutes.”
