Ernesto Mercado injured, withdraws from Jonathan Montrela Fighting on Hitchins-Cambosos Undercard on MSG

Matchroom reports that Ernesto Mercado suffered an injury and will not go through his fight against Jonathan Montrela on Saturday, June 14 at the Madison Square Garden Theater.

Mercado injured, the fight fired

The invincible light prospectus of Welterweight Mercado (17-0, 16 ko) was supposed to fight against Montrela in the fight of 10 rounds on Richardson Hicchins Vs. George Cambosos Jr. to Dazn. Matchroom did not reveal what kind of injury to Mercado, for 23 years, he suffered. Mercado-Montrel will fight on the preliminary part of the card.

Losing Mercada from the map is a disappointment because it would be interesting to see him fighting. He moved against better opposition, and it won’t take much time before fighting the best candidates at 140.

Mercado is interested in fighting Keyshawn Davis, now that he has decided to switch to a lightweight Veluk after being taken away from WBO last Friday after he failed to make weight. It is likely that Keyshaww will not take Mercada in his offer to fight him.

Ernesto is in a position in which he will be avoided until he won the world title with 140. None of the best fighters will willingly fight Mercada without a belt or he will become mandatory for one of the titles. This news from Matchroom comes the day after Mercado called Nahir Albrighta, saying he wanted to release him by the title.

Undercard still contains many notable fighters, including Andy Cruza, Teremoana Jr., Zaquin Moses and Pablo Valdez. Promotor Eddie Hearn has compiled an excellent background that will go along with the main event between Hitchins and Cambos.
