The recordings, which were later discovered to have been generated by AI, caused a wide confusion before it was confirmed that Afida was very alive and of good health.

Shahid Afidi represented the Pakistani team in the International Crite from 1996 to 2018, playing 27 test matches, 398 ODIS and 99 T20I. He scored more than 11,000 runs and took 541 WiKkets in all formats. Afida also held a record for the fastest game (37 balls) before being broken by Corey Anderson (36).

Shahid Afidi has caused controversy in the midst of escalating tension in India and Pakistan with strong remarks on Pakistani TV. He criticized Indian security in Kashmir, saying that their army failed to maintain peace. Afida also claimed that Pakistan was technologically in advance and growing faster.
