Scotland’s Connor Syme won the KLM Open and requested its first title at the DP World Tour.
The 29-year-old entered the last round on Sunday with a two-goal leader for playing partner Joakim Lagergren and gave the same advantage despite the shiny closing eagle of Swede.
Syme finished 11 below, shooting on Sunday one under 70 70 and only made one thief in the last 38 holes.
“Incredible, it’s so hard for the last few days,” Syme said.
“I just felt so much better this week, I felt really ready for it and so I am so happy to be able to do it.”
His wife Alanis flew to Amsterdam to surprise Syme on the last greenery, where he also enjoyed celebrations filled with champagne with compatriot Ewen Ferguson and England Richard Mansell.
Ferguson had a hole in one earlier during the day to help him end up with the fourth.
“That’s right, so nice they got stuck,” Syme said. “Obviously I was very pleased for them and I’m really happy to join them and beat them, so amazing. Incredible.”
Lagergren ended nine below and South African Jayden Schaper third to four floor. Ferguson, colleague Scot Richie Ramsay and English Jack Senior were an extra goal to share the fourth.
