“I’ve never been the first choice of fans,” but the new Rangers chief Martin convinced he could win Ibrox Crowd

Russell Martin is convinced that he can defeat the skeptics that questioned his appointment for the Rangers chief.

Martin was appointed a new club coach this morning at a three-year agreement despite the abundance of negative reactions of the club fans when the guesses began to connect the 39-year-olds with Ibrox SLOOK.

Martina was widespread for his rejection to change his approach to Southampton, despite the terrible start of last season in which he was fired in December with the Premier League club bottom.

But he was in a bull’s mood when he addressed the media this morning.

He said, “I have to win the fans. I don’t think I was the number one choice in any club I was in. When we left each team I was in, we established a real relationship with the fans. I hope this will be the same.

“My whole playing career was based on hard work and resistance. This was not done on the talent.”

I want a team of rangers who gives everything – Martin

He added: “The fans are the most important people at any football club.

“My job is to give them a team they identify with and are proud. The team that wins.

“A team that will give everything. One thing that is always neglected with our teams is that they always run the most of their possessions, because they must if they want to dominate the ball and be aggressive.

“It’s not given, it’s an attribute – you have to work hard, not everyone has it. We want people to come to the club.”

It’s not about style – Martin

Martin’s philosophy during a managerial career that also included spells in MK DONS and Swansea played from the back – an approach that led to success and failure.

But he quickly emphasized the most important aspect of his job will be to instill a work ethic that can help the club close the gap in Celtic.

“It’s not about style, but a consistent level of application and desire and intensity, because things will change a week in a week in terms of what we fight against,” he said.

“What I want to see the same mentality all the time because the game then throws many variables.”

All about trophies – Martin

Asked what would be his success in Glasgow, he said, “It’s the conquest of the trophy.

“It is to build a culture that we are proud of and people can feel when they enter the building. The environment of hard work, honestly and openness.

“To see a team that does not seem different every week, it always tries to improve and develop in our own way, instead of focusing too much on the opposition. We will do it in our own way and we will all be on the same page.

“We need to improve the team on the field and improve the environment outside the field.”
