Tom Thibodeau was discharged as the chief coach of New York Kniks, despite the franchise led to the best ending in 25 years.
Knicks eliminated Indiana Pacers with a loss in the 6th game on Saturday night, they have fallen two games less than their first NBA final since 1999.
It was a fourth trip after the season in her five seasons in New York for Thibodeau, who leaves with a 226-174 record record in New York and the fourth victories of Knicks coaches.
Knicks brought what they called a “difficult decision” to go from Thibodeau, believing that it was a necessary step in their chase for the first championship since 1973.
In a statement on Tuesday, Leon Rose said: “Our organization is uniquely focused on winning the championship for our fans. This search has brought us to a difficult decision to inform Tom Thibodeau that we have decided to move in the other direction.
“We cannot thank enough to insert his heart and soul every day in the New York Knicks coach. He has led us not only with the class and professionalism for the last five seasons, but also a huge success on the field with four playoffs and four playoffs.
“Ultimately, we have made a decision that we think is the best for our organization that goes forward. Tom will always be part of our Knicks family and we really do not wish him anything but the best in the future.”

Kniks has not won the play-off series since 2013, but now they have done so in three real seasons, and actor Ben Stiller among those who paid tribute to the influence of Thibodeau on their re-re-hill.
“I’m a fan of Tom Thibodeau,” Stiller wrote on X. He returned this team. I felt he gave himself every now and then that he always wanted to improve. I will always be grateful for how far Knicks brought.
“They are relevant again. The championship candidates again. Knicks became the winners with him again.”
The NBA finals began on Thursday, and Indiana Pacers played Oklahoma City Thunder. The next regular season should start on October 21, 2025, ending in April 2026.
