In the last decade, the UEFA Champions League finals began not only with a football fireworks, but also music. In a tradition that is increasingly mirrored by the Super Bowl half exhibition, every year UEFA invites a globally recognized artist or band to perform just before the biggest club match in world football.
In previous years, they took a stage like Alicia Keys on stage, imagine Dragons, Black Eyed Peas and Lenny Kravitz. This time, either Linkin Park is facing glow.
Application of founder Mike Shinod and vocalist Emily Armstrong-Koja entered the tragic passage of Chester Bennington in 2017-Group she delivered a dramatic bullet of four songs at the Allianz Arena. Their set included a “emptiness machine”, “in the end”, “Otumb” and “It is a heavy crown.”
Together with the pyrotechnics, the moody visuals and massive ovation, it looked like the Nu-Metal Legends had hit all the real notes with the crowd.
But while Linkin Park tried so hard and arrived so far, in the end, that was still not enough for Marc Van Basten.
The Dutch Football Legend did not refrain in its brutal pre-shremZiggo Sport: “Linkin Park performance was garbage – absolute garbage. It’s a shame that Uefa allows it to.”
Although he checked the band, the frustration of Van Basten was obviously more focused on the concept than the performers themselves. Former Ballon D’Or winner claimed that the spectacle was dragging the players just before the start, at a time when they should be focused and warmed up on the field.
“I consider it absolutely idiotic,” he addedpounding the whole production as “worthless – completely worthless.”
Clearly, for Van Basten, the play before the game is felt as a step closer to ruining the beautiful game.
