Leverkusen confirms the signature of Spotkene while Brentford brings Kelleher from Liverpool


Bayer Leverkusen ended the signing of Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken, and the bees announced as a replacement to Caoimhín Kelleher.

Flekken moves to Leverkusen in an agreement believed to be worth £ 11 million, Dutch international signing of the contract by June 2028. In the meantime, Kelleher joins Brentford from Liverpool under a five -year contract with an option for a further year. Brentford is said to have paid the Premier League 18 million pound champions for the Ireland International Republic.

Before moving to Brentford 2023, Flekken spent his entire club career in Germany.

Two members of their double victory 2023-24, Jonathan Tah and Jeremie Frimpong, left the club to join Bayern Munich and Liverpool. The duo followed former coach Xabi Alons as he took over the door of Carl Ancelotti in Real Madrid.

Liverpool also tries to run Floriana Wirtza away from Leverkusen, but Flekken is excited to go the other way.

He said about his move to Leverkusen: “(This is) the next and special step in my career. Many games against the absolute world class player in England raised the level of my game.

“I am very happy to devote my qualities to the top German club with major national and European goals.

“I love the Bundesliga and obviously I also look forward to playing for Werkself in the Champions League.”

Kelleher made 67 appearances for Liverpool, his competitive debut for Reds who arrived in 2019.

He held 24 pure leaves in all competitions in his time at Anfield, which is why he collected the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Champions League and UEFA Super Cup winner medal.

“I’m very glad I can wait for Caoimhin to Brentford,” said football director Phil Giles.

“In the past, we were scouting him and were aware that he was one year old to go to a contract with Liverpool this summer.

“When Mark Flekken had the opportunity to move to Bayer Leverkusen, we immediately thought about Caoimhin as his replacement.

“Apart from being a very good goalkeeper, I rarely met a player who everyone has such positive words to say about their personality and character. So I’m convinced that it will be a great addition to the team.”
