Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic was excluded from the club World Cup after undergoing surgery due to an Achilles injury.
The Croatian International suffered the disturbed end of the season, remained outside the team due to the final defeat of the FA Cup from Crystal Palace due to a minor injury before returning against Bournemouth and sent to City’s 3-1 victory.
He then missed the victory in the last day in Fulham in which men of Pepa Guardiola secured a place in the Champions League next season.

Kovacic will now spend the summer recovering in the hope that he can be suitable for the start of next season.
The city statement is: “Manchester City can confirm that Mateo Kovacic has undergone surgery on Achilles injury.
“The Croatian midfielder should now miss the FIFA World Cup, as the city is moving to the US in June.
“Mateo will spend the summer rehabilitation from surgery and everyone in the club wants a quick recovery for him.”
The first city game at the club’s World Cup comes on June 18 When they take over Wydad Casablanca.
Then they will face Al Ain and Juventus in G.
