Mrs. Don It remains one of the most inspirational and most pronounced captains in the Indian history of the crislette. Under her calm leadership, India won all the main ICC trophies – World Cup T20 2007, Odu -ja World Cup in 2011, and the 2013 champion trophy. His unobtrusive behavior, sharp brain for crickets and final abilities, made him a legend not only in India, but also around the world of the crisis.
From Dhoni’s retirement, the question of who could be his true successor persisted. Still Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma They both led India with decoration and had their unique impact, it was often difficult for fans to place anyone on the same pedestal as “Captain Cool”. Now, while Kohli and Rohit stepped down from the test cricker, the baton had switched to the younger generation. And according to former Australia captain Steve WaughIndian cricket may have just found the next Dhoni.
In a recent conversation with YearWaugh praised the young Indian dough Shubman Gill and suggested to see the same leadership features that once defined Dhoni.
“Gill also has Dhoni’s flair. Gill is calm and cool. I see the same ability in Gill as Dhoni had. The Indian captain is in capable hands. Shubman Gill is a great player, especially under pressure. He thinks clearly and his teammates respect him a lot,” said Waugh.
Waugh’s praise comes at a time when Gill is nurtured for a larger leading role, after the captain of his IPL side has been recently appointed to the Test Captain Team India on the eve of the long -awaited English tour. According to Aussie Great, Gillin temperament and maturity at such a young age make him a worthy candidate to take away the Indian cricket forward.
Waugh, praising Gill’s leadership potential, also called for the patience and support of fans and experts. In his opinion, Gill is undoubtedly a great choice to run India, but emphasized that the young man takes time to grow into the role. Waugh acknowledged an immense burden that comes with a nation captain like India, where expectations of over a billion fans can become irresistible. He believed that Gill had the right way to think and skills to progress under pressure, but his development of the captain would take space and time. According to Waugh, the allowing Gill to develop with his own pace is crucial for his long -term success.
“He is a great choice, but it is important to give him time to fully adapt to the role. It is a great responsibility … presenting 1.4 to 1.5 billion people come with great pressure, and he is young, so he will have a good chance to prove himself as a captain,” Added Waugh.
Waugh compared Gill and Dhoni, emphasizing their similar peaceful and composed behavior. He noted that just like Dhoni, Gill had the opportunity to bring stability and clarity in the team. However, he emphasized that it is important not to overcome the young cricket with constant comparisons and expectations. Waugh advised the public and the media to refrain from watching GILL on his leader trip too soon, pointing out that unnecessary pressure can interfere with his growth.
“Mrs. Dhoni’s behavior was similar, so Gill will be good for the team, but he has to play his role well. Since he is an Indian captain, he is a lot of pressure on him, and he is very young, so he would like people to talk too much about him right now, people should leave him for a while.” Waugh added further.
