Terence Crawford calls his conflict against Canel Alvarez “generational struggle ” Which he believes will “speak for years” when they meet on September 13 in Las Vegas. Fans do not see it that way.
This struggle is considered worthless food and will be forgotten immediately. Alvarez and Crawford are old. The occasional one who considers this struggle similar to Ray Leonard’s sugars moving into medium weight to fight Marvin Hagler do not know what they are talking about. Crawford is not as talented anywhere as Sugar Ray, and Canelo is not at the Hagler level, who struggled with Leonard.
They consider it unusual, with Crawford (41-0, 31 ko) raised several departments and gave the immediate title that hit against Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 ko). This is not the struggle that the boxing public asked for Canel. They did not push themselves toward the Mexican star that he was fighting another smaller fighter, especially the old one who had been approaching 40 years.
Some fans see this as a way for Canelo to avoid difficult struggles that they want to see him against David Benavidez, Dmitry Bivol and Arthur Beterbiev. The 168 -pound division emptied with Benavides and David Morrell, who moved until 175. What remained in the top four, Canelo did not show interest in fighting. He would rather face Crawford.
“I wanted to go from 147 to 168 just because I wanted to challenge myself, and that is joy,” said Terrence Crawford Ring Magazine On why he decides to move to a super medium weight to make a direct title against the undisputed champion Canela Alvarez on September 13th.
Crawford leaves the part where he is moving because of the money, because he does not actually completely challenge himself. If he had been in a relationship with this, he would have moved to 168 and performed top candidates waiting in line for their well -deserved title.
If it were a challenge of himself, Crawford would show that he was worthy of defeating these contestants in the super middleweight category

“This is a inherited fight. This is a generational (monetary) fight. It will be talked about for years,” Crawford said. “I feel like I scored a speed over Canel. I reached the reach. Maybe he had greatness, strength (youth and toughness), but I got better skills. Everyone is like:” Man, you’re crazy. “Yes.
The skills are quite uniform. Crawford’s last fight against Israel Madrid has shown that he has been drawn and has to depend on his better engine to win a narrow decision.
Madrimov had a better technical capacity than Crawford, but he let the fight in the championship round. Israil has still deserved to win based on his hard, cleaner shots through the eighth round. However, Terrence was a-sides, so it was obvious why he won. I had 8-4 for Madrid. He looked like a version of the GGG of this era and couldn’t miss the right hands.
Canelo has a good enough technical ability to win, but his gasoline tank is one question that might keep him. If it fades after four rounds as we have seen in the last three fights, Crawford can come and steal it in the championship round as he did against Madrid.
“Crawford is, as great as it is, this is an effective weight of weight moving until 168,” said Chris Mannix.
That’s true. Crawford is basically a vein weight, an old one that may not have left enough to beat Alvarez. The struggle has been once a year since 2020, it is questionable whether the teders will be sharp enough to beat Canela. He looked like he lost a lot to the fight against Errol Spence Jr. 2023, releasing himself from a 13-month release to cause Madrid for his WBA junior medium category title, August 3, 2024.
