Lauren Winfield-Hill Sky Sports Crickket believes that Heather Knight proved that it was valid for England after losing the captain after the catastrophic winter.
After a white washing of 16-0 in Pepel, Knight stepped down from his role as a captain while Nat Sciver-Brunt took his duties, and head coach Jon Lewis made a place for Charlotte Edwards to take power.
The new era began with the opening of the T20I in her series against West Indies while England went with a pleasant eight-lean victory.
Despite the refreshed clothing, the former Skipper Knight (43no) helped to lead the way while England became a chase of 147, a partnership from Sophia Duncley (81n) as a key duo that distributed a continuous 91-Tryp partnership.
Meanwhile, Sciver-Brunt fell on a duck with two balls.
For Winfield-Hill, it is a moment that will alleviate the knights of her own doubt her role aside, confirming that she is still one of the best players that England can offer.
“I think that will really confirm her place on this side,” Winfield-Hill said.
“You’re no longer a captain, but God, you’re still one of the best players in the country.
“No one wants to go to the fold in this situation anymore, a few winters down, but Heather Knight to see the game home.
“Especially in the pursuit, she is so good at the chase. She knows the pace, knows her strength when to pull the trigger.
“It will only be nice to confirm for her that she has some real value for this side.
“Because, no doubt, she’ll question it when she lost the captain.”
Duncley was also full of praise for her ex -partner for skipper and blows, insisting that she was “extraordinary” with a group during a transition from her leadership to a new age.
Indeed, he believes that “nothing has changed” when it comes to the leadership that Knight brings about the team.
“Heather was extraordinary around the group,” Duncley said.
“She is a natural leader, everyone respects her, nothing has changed in this regard.
“She got very well, she had a great partnership and is great to see what she is doing best.”
Although Duncley believes that Knight has not changed too much for Knight, she admits that there is a different feeling under the new coach Edwards who told her to be “simple” and “peaceful”.
“Edwards is calm and clear in what he wants to do. We had a good week to get into this game and it was great to start winning,” Dunley added.
“I really wanted to go out and contribute to the team and affect the game and I’m glad I did it tonight.
“It was clear with me to want me to work, I play to my forces.
“My strength is beautiful and straight and get into the game when I want and be clear in my decision -making, nothing too much outside, let it be simple and that’s what I tried to do tonight.”
