Created in collaboration with the UPCYCLING Brand (Re) boot and London Design Studio Row____, each collection shirt was handmade using unused supplies from the last four seasons of UMBR-exhibited sets.

Adding a unique turnaround, each shirt is built with a chip that can be scanned to reveal its story: where the materials came from, details of original kits and further insight into the work (re) boots and row____z.

The limited number of T -shirts was initially available in the club store before Brentford’s home defeat Fulham, And now they are on sale through the club website for £ 120.

Important, Brentford will not profit from sales. All proceeds will go to cover production costs and ensure a fair salary for designers and partners in the project.

Brentford’s sustainability manager, James Beale, said about the project: “Brentford fans take care of sustainability, so we wanted to offer them a unique way to support their club and planet at the same time.”

“Upcicircular shirts have a lower carbon print from brand new shirts, so fans buying from (re) ranges make a positive decision of the planet,” he added. “We hope that the assortment inspires our fans to try to reuse, repair and upcicker the old kit, so we see as little Brentford Kits as possible.”

According to the club, over 100,000 tonnes of sports kit is sent to the landfill every year globally – which is equivalent to 951 football T -shirts per minute, or 500 million T -shirts a year.

Although Brentford’s latest initiative can only make a small recess in that figure, it sends a strong message: even in football, sustainability and creativity can go hand in hand – and each saved shirt is a step in the right direction.
