‘We have built a great future for you’

Kevin de Bruyne was emotionally said goodbye to the Etihad stadium after scoring his last appearance in Manchester City on Tuesday in Manchester City on Tuesday.

To do what we did as a club, fans, teammates we won everything. We made the city, the club bigger and now they will take over.

“I wanted to play with creativity, I wanted to play with passion. I wanted to enjoy football and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Everyone pushed me so much inside and outside the club to be the best version of myself and these guys, everyone we see on the screen, and these guys in front of me made me better than I was before.

“This team tries to entertain people and win. This team seems incredibly tiring to everyone behind the scenes and on the field. This team will win in or without me, with or without me, and everyone in the city, fans, will be behind the team as they have done with me for the last 10 years. This team will have a success that is sure.

“You just want to win well and win, and then when you win you want to win more. You want to push the city, and we had five/six processions and it is amazing to testify to everything that happens in the city. All moments with these teammates were too much to count them. It was a pleasure.”

On the fans, who have serenaded De Bruyne with their name singers all night, De Bruyne added: “They were so welcome from the beginning. To support my family almost full stadium and I say everything. Who can have 50.00 people waiting for you to say goodbye?

Earlier days when Mosaik de Bruyne was presented at the City Football Academy, but it was discovered that the statue of De Bruyne would also be built as a homage to the indelible mark he left.

“That means I’ll always be part of this club,” De Bruyne said about that honor.

“I always represent a small part of it and whenever I come back with these guys to the family and friends I will be able to see myself standing around the stadium. I will always be here.

“I think the best way to describe my life with my wife and my three children is that we have fit in perfectly. We understand where the club has come and why the club means a lot to many people.

“Together we have built a great future for you, to make the club the way this club will perform. I know this was a somewhat difficult year for us, but I think the team deserves all the support from you.

“I know they are very pushing and that this team will return to all the titles next year, so they deserve it.

“I think after 10 years it was time for someone to let me go a bit and it’s time to say goodbye. I’ll be back, but we love you and see you soon.”
