Harry Maguire is determined to repay Manchester United fans for their loyalty this season and admitted “we disappointed them too much.”
United took over Tottenham tomorrow night in the Europa League final in Bilbau, hoping to break through the trophy, qualify for the Champions League and save something from the poor season.
Ruben amorim, he sat 16 in the Premier League, a point and a place above Spurs, and they were guaranteed that he would end up in his lowest position since the superb flight was recorded in 1992.
Nevertheless, the fans have remained largely supporting and they will travel to the Basque country in a huge number, hoping that their side will receive their first European crown since 2017.
And Maguire says their unconditional support did not go unnoticed in the locker room.
The English international said ESPN: “(fans) were absolutely amazing this season, it surprises us by the players how much we are supported.
“We disappointed them too much. We gave them good times in the Europe league and a few great memories in terms of victory in the derby on Etihad and things, but even surprised me.
“It was extraordinary when we play in front of them, though we don’t perform.
“That’s why I think they deserve it. We have a great opportunity to leave and win the Cup Finals and give them that day. It’s just a good day if we get back and win in the tournament.”

Amorim gladly turned his team in recent weeks, prioritizing the Europa League over the Premier League with respect to a huge prize.
And Maguire believes that it contributed to their terrible homemade form with United, which is currently in the middle of a victory in eight games.
“We know this season was nowhere good enough,” he added.
“I don’t think there was a doubt that it was really difficult. The last few months, without too much, we focused on the Europa League in terms of the initial XI.
“It was frustrating. It should not be that way. Two months ago, we should have been in a better position where we fight for the Europa League position and the Champions League position. This is what this club requires.
“We know that this season was nowhere good enough for this club and for our standards. Next season I know we will improve.”
