Newcastle United is ready to discover his first signature of the summer transfer window, and 18-year-old Spanish wing player Antonio Cordero was to join Magpies next month, states Ipaper.
The promising young man is considered to be one of Spanish growing talents, and Newcastle successfully defeated the strict competition of European giants Real Madrid and Barcelona to ensure his signature.
Cordero, who was born in Jerez, southern Spain, began his football trip with local clubs, including Cadiz, Sevilla and Real Betis, before landing in Malaga 2021.
His time in Malaga saw him bloom, especially in their ‘B-Tim’, where he gave himself a name in the Spanish fifth level, scoring impressive 12 goals in only 17 appearances.
Scouts from some of the best European clubs saw him play, and the young man impressed them.
Magpies will continue their goal of investing in younger players who can become the stars of the future, whether they are for their team, or to make a big money from their transfers.
Cordero’s consistent performances earned him an invitation to the first Malaga team, where he debuted his professional debut in 2023.
Since then, he has established himself as a regular starter, and this season has accumulated 32 appearances in La Liga 2.
Newcastle first started contact with Corder in January, investigating the possibility of an agreement on a pre-release. The conversations were progressing smoothly, and the young wing player, along with his family, even visited Tyneside earlier this year.
Cordero is expected to end the last stages of his transfer in June. However, it is understood that he will not immediately join the Eddie Howwe team. Instead, Newcastle plans to send him to loan to gain more experience in the first team.
Magpies are also Interested in the move for midfielder Aston Villa Jacoba Ramsey.
