Newcastle ‘expect’ will qualify for the Champions League, says Howe

Newcastle leader Eddie Howe says he feels the expectation from the club to return to the Champions League.

Newcastle hosted Chelsea on Sunday with clubs locked and scored. The Howow’s side is currently in front of the goals scored, and both participated in a sixth fight with Arsenal, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villama for the top five.

Howe’s side played in the Champions League in the 2023-24 season, for the first time in 20 years, and this year she won Carabao Cup.

Howwe said, “We feel the expectation, certainly internally, try to provide the Champions League football.

“There was the expectation we put on ourselves.

“I think the victory in the Cup final gave us freedom and newly related confidence from the back of the achievement of that-what gave us a bounce in the next few games. We raised our appearance from behind.

“But that seems to be, in a football sense, a long time ago and now we still have to use and take that confidence, but now we have to focus on these last three games knowing, for me, how good the team can be. We have to set our expectations very high.”

Howe said his team would have to play as well as Wembley to improve the ENZO Maresca Conference League finalists.

The 47-year-old, who suspects the two unnamed players, said: “Yes, I think we will have to bring the performance to such a performance to win.

“Chelsea gave us one of our hardest games of the season at Stamford Bridge earlier this season. I thought they were great and I think they started to get that form again in their recent games.

“Enzo is a very, very good manager. In the meantime, the club has announced that he will launch a fans’ consultation exercise at the CREST club update – which has been used since 1988 – to harmonize it with digital age.
