Chester May Festival: Illinois Kopa Deep to Return with Ormonda Stakes Trium for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore | Racing news

Illinois started his season in the best possible way with great success in the high value of Ladbrokes, which you can bet on Ormonde role in Chester.

The winner of the royal Ascota in Queen’s Vase last year, was the second in the Grand Prix de Paris and St Leger.

He gave pounds to some decent rivals for a penalty kick in France at his last exit, but Ryan Moore was grateful to James himself for coming down from the railway on the pace.

This made it possible to Illinois (6/5 favorites) to get into the interior and lead to straight, but once he thought he had done enough, and the absurd and Al Qareem began to return to him.

However, four -year -old Aidan O’Briena held for his work to win by gathering Al Qareem for the length and a quarter to ensure that Ballydoyle Handler won all four main races at the introductory two days of the meeting.

Ryan Moore spoke with Sky Sports Racing after winning Wednesday at Cheshire Oaks and Chester Vase.

Paul Smith, the son of co -owner Derrick, said, “That was very comfortable, he is a beautiful horse and very versatile.

“I talked to Aidan there and you could throw him on a trip because of CRNATION CUP or you could step up for the Cup race – you would do everything you want for you.

“He is a big, strong animal, so he’ll improve himself for running. Ryan was very happy, he waited on a bend to take him there, and they didn’t, so he had to go, and he just played in front.

“Last year he won two groups of two and presented his sentence today, so he is a real horse.”

Michael Owen was among the winning owners on the second day of the Chester May Festival and celebrated with a rather emotional teammate.

At Moore’s appearance in the saddle, riding four O’Brien winners in two days, Smith added: “He is a cool customer and it’s like when you see Roger Federer playing tennis – it looks effortless and that is the way he rides his horses.

“It’s never panic and it’s always more time with Ryan Moore than you think.”

Speaking from his base Ballydoyle, O’Brien said: “We look forward to Illinois this year. He has physically changed to a four -year -old, which is great.

“We thought this was a beautiful place to launch it and could return (on a trip) to crowning in Epsom, so we will see how he is, but it is very possible that he could.

“Looks a real horse of a mile and a half that remains very well a trip. He is a big, clear horse and today I was delighted with him.”
