Manchester United chief Ruben Amorim says Bruno Fernandes “is one of the best players in the world” and not for sale

Ruben Amorim described Bruno Fernandes today as “obviously one of the best players in the world” and said he wanted to stay in Manchester United.

Fernandes was associated with al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia this week, and foreign league could offer astronomical salaries in Portugal to leave Old Trafford in the Middle East.

Speaking before tomorrow’s conflict of the Europa League with Athletic Bilbao, Amorim clearly said that he wanted his captain to stay and be a key part of the overhaul.

“It is easy to understand (its importance) not only because of the numbers, but also the way he plays and the things he has done in his five years here,” he said of Fernandes, who scored 19 goals and added 16 assists in 52 appearances this season.

“He is a top player and we need top -notch players. He is the leader. He is the captain. So, he is really important.

“It’s normal that there are a lot of clubs who want players like Bruno, but we want to keep our best players. And Bruno is obviously one of the best players in the world.

“So our idea does not change. We clearly want Bruno here.”
