‘It has to hurt’ – Arteta is reflected in the Champions League output to PSG

Mikel Arteta says the elimination of the Champions League semi-finals in the hands of PSG “must harm” his players if they won the competition one day.

While gracious in defeat, Arththa believes that his team was better than the two during the tie.

“First of all, (I want) to congratulate PSG to the finals. The estimate I will make when I am a little colder, but the feedback I immediately received from their benches was much better than them,” said Arsenal chief.

“When you look at two games that was their best player on the field? That was their goalkeeper.

“He made a difference to them in a tie. And I think we were close. Much closer than shows the result. But unfortunately we are outside.

“I am very proud of the players. What we did today, the way we started, how we acted with pressure. After 20 minutes, it should be 3-0. But in the competition, something you need to go on the road, which is not (for us).”

Arsenal is now set for another season without a trophy – their fifth in a row. And Arthte thinks his players should learn from the pain of defeat to end the drought of silver vessels.

“I’m upset. Yes, we were very close. Yes, the long periods of both games were much better than them,” Artete said.

“But we are not there and it has to harm it. If we want to win this competition and go there, we have to understand it.

“There are certain things that are on us. Understanding that we are out there is not the way I look at it.”
