Former Indian cricket and the current main coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam GambhirHe was strongly advocated that India should be refrained from playing the cricket against Pakistan. He emphasized that no engagement of the two countries has greater importance than the safety and well -being of Indian citizens. Known for their direct and uncompromising attitude, Gambhir’s remarks followed the recent Pakistan sponsored terrorist attack that targeting tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Gambhir acknowledged that the decision to participate in the Crixes of Tie with Pakistan ultimately lies with the Government, but his opinion is “Absolutely no.” However, he reiterated his long conviction that no cricket coincides, no artistic interaction or any form of interaction is more important than the lives of Indian soldiers and citizens. He emphasized that, although he will continue, the films will produce, and the artists will perform, none of them can be compared to the pain of losing loved ones.
Talking to ABP News, Gambhir said “Ultimately, this is a government decision whether we play them or not. I said that before, no cricket or Bollywood or any other interaction is no more important than the lives of Indian soldiers and Indian citizens. The matches will continue to happen, movies will be made, singers will continue to perform, but nothing comes near a loved one in your family.”

Wondering about the upcoming India-Pakistan matches in the World Cup and the Asian Cup. Gambhir also explained that the decision to play against Pakistan does not belong to its jurisdiction and rests on Crown control Committee in India (BCCI) And, more importantly, the government. He confirmed that the team would fully support and respect any decision the government decides to make.
“This is not on me, it is not in my jurisdiction, this is for BCCI and more importantly, the government decides whether to play them or not. No matter the decision to make the government, we will be absolutely fine with that.” Gambhir was added.
Bilateral crickets in India and Pakistan are at the helm of the 2012-13 series due to geopolitical tensions, especially through cross-border terrorism. The matches are now limited to ICC tournaments, and there is no bilateral series in sight.
