Josh Kerr had a fantastic trip on the day of opening the Grand Slam Track Miami. Competing in a short distance event, he won in the 1500 m race. After the competition, Brit shared his sincere opinion on the race and that the competition, together with 800 million runners, influenced his strategy.
Kerr signed with GST in June 2024 for the excitement of fans. In April earlier this year, the Olympic Medal competed in the Grand Slam Track National edition. He was solved in Kingston with two disappointing results, first fifth place in 1500 m, followed by the final layer at 800 m.
This time, Josh Kerr He strictly started his Grand Slam campaign. Competing in the Ansin sports complex in Miami, the 27-year-old went 3: 34.51 for winning 1500 meters. In the interaction of the media after the runner, Kerr opened up that the competition against 800m runners influenced his strategy by saying, saying:
“I think just knowing that these boys will be there at the end, although their top speed is faster, I hope we can stay more before the last 100 m. So, you know, I wanted to go as hard as I could, and so I just waited and waited and tried and tried to get a little killed.
Behind Kerr, American Yared Nuguse and Cole Hocker placed on second and third time, registering a time of 3: 34.65 and 3: 3: 34.79.
For Josha Kerra, his peak stand on Grand Slam Track Miami indicates the first time he won the 1500 m race Paris Olympics. Brit decided to give up in 2025 in closed competitions, and he fought the outdoor races at his opening season in Kingston last month.
Talking to the media after his victory, Kerr presented a way of thinking that brought him to victory, saying:
“I was super present in the circle. I didn’t think about the last round until I got there. With 450m (to go), I got into a firm position, I just didn’t need to fight too much on that return to get a win. I did exactly what I wanted today.
He continued to explain why he became emotional after the race, saying:
“I am surrounded by amazing runners and in the end I came out a lot of emotions. I think it’s mostly just because I didn’t have the best winter, I was a little lagging behind, but knowing that I was back now.”
Josh Kerr will return to action on Saturday, May 3rd. Brit will compete in Grand Slam Track Miami 800m race, which should be held at 19:05.
