Manchester United chief Ruben Amorim says that on Sunday it is a “risk” to rotate his side in Brentford – but says he has to prioritize their pursuit of the Europa League fame.
3-0 win in Spain on Thursday night put United on the track to reach the Europa League final and a match far from the Champions League qualification.
Since United had Torrid League season – those in 14th place go to the weekend – Amorim is ready to rest some players in the league and enter everything to continental success.
“We know we always have a responsibility, but at this point we have to take the risk,” he told Amorim.
“There are some positions for which we have no more players. For example, the Noussair Mazraoui cannot play on Sunday.
“He is limited to injure, so we will handle this and prepare the match against the team that won (against Nottingham Forest) and is in a big moment.
“We are always responsible for performing. We always have the responsibility of the results. But at this point we have to be clear: our focus is more on rescuing players and trying to be competitive. It’s not good to say, but we have to understand the context.”
Chido Obi, 17, and Sekou Kone, 19, traveled to Spain to train with a team, although they were acceptable to the Europa League, while Bendito Mantato, 17, and Jaydan Kamason (18) were also with a group with a recent debut Tyler Fredricson, 20.
“The first thing is that players who take the risk of injuring will not play,” I told Amori about his approach to Brentford. “No matter what. We need to risk it.
“And then we will evaluate (Friday) and the next day who are the best players to start the game.
“Then we have to be careful because we are Manchester United and we can’t go to play without thinking that we can win this game.
“So the procedure will be like that, it will be difficult, but we have gone through so many things this year. This is another one. Let’s see.”
