Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou said the season in the Premier Club League was “nowhere good enough” as they prepare to take over the selected Liverpool champions.
The point for Reds on Anfield will be enough for Tim Arne Slot for the first time since 2020 to raise the trophy.
The Spurs, in contrast, lost 18 league matches this season and in 16th place, in 37 points.
However, they are in the last four Europa Leagues, where they would be guaranteed by the Champions League football next season.
Postecoglou, a Liverpool fan as a boy, said: “I am almost an adult of 60.

“We want to go there and compete well with a very good side. It’s not about passing intact – you want to go well playing against a top team.
“No matter what is on the horizon, it is still of the main importance for us.
“We are well aware that our shape of the league and position is nowhere good enough, but we also know that there is an incredible opportunity on the horizon.
“There is a focus and that focus should be for a club that has not had much success lately.
“Collectively, if we give ourselves every opportunity to progress in the finals, we hope that the momentum we get will give us the opportunity to do something special.”
The Spurs are still without the son of Heung-Dom, but they hope that their captain will return to them when they hosted the Norwegian Bodo/Glimt champions in the first part of their semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday (20:00 BST).
“We’ll see,” Postecoglou said. “He improves, which is positive.
“It was the first time he went out on the grass (Friday) and is definitely better than what was.
“It’s an element of the foot, because you wear it, you have to give it some rest and time.”
