Manager Crystal Palace Oliver Glasner never watched the FA Cup final – and says that he could not adapt in Austria as a young man because “there was no internet.”
Glasner, who was born in the small Austrian city of Scharding, will hope that eagles will take a step closer to their first big trophy when they face Aston Fairy on Saturday at the last four at Wembley Stadium (17:15 BST).
“When I grew up, we couldn’t see him in Austria,” the 50-year-old replied when they asked him about his memories of the most famous days in the English football calendar.
“There was no internet … I’m a little older than most of you. But here I could have felt from the day of the first day that it was … a huge Cup in England. That’s why we enjoy it, which is another reason to go to the finals.”

If Palace wins, Glasner will become the first Austrian manager to reach the finals, and his country has become the first new nation represented by a manager in the 2021 game, when Thomas Tuchel took the duty of Chelsea.

Glasner reached the finals twice with the former Eintracht Frankfurt club, beating the Rangers on the penalties in 2021/22 Europa League and losing 2-0 to late Leipzig goals in the 2022/23 German Cup.
“It’s a game, so I don’t want to make it bigger than it is,” Glasner said, adding that he has a full choice team, including Ben Chilwell.
“We feel well prepared. We have confidence, especially with the performance on the Emirates (stadium, ua 2-2 draws in Arsenal on Wednesday). This is how we will enter Wembley. “
