After three transmission windows without much business, Newcastle is expected to spend a lot of money in the summer. Several areas were identified as needed resolved, with one of them the position of the attacker.

Alexander Isaac was strongly associated with a departure from Newcastle in summer, and Arsenal and Liverpool among clubs interested in Sweden’s superstar. But Carabao Cup winners expect them to stay, and their intention is to sign someone to compete with him, replacing Calluma Wilson.

There were several attackers who were related to the move to Newcastle in the summer, but the most specific option seems to be the Liam Delap option at this stage. And in recent weeks there has been a positive development on this front.

As he reported TeamtalkNewcastle recently held “very positive” discussions with Delap’s representatives because they enhance their interest in Ipswich attackers. And the report also confirmed that the manager Eddie Howe had personally talked to the player to clarify the club’s interest.

Delap will almost certainly be on the move this summer, and his £ 30m issue clause is likely to be activated by several clubs. Like Man UnitedChelsea and Everton are interested in signing him, but at this stage, it seems that Newcastle has made the most progress as arrangement.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle managed to complete the signature of Delap this summer, but there is no doubt that he would be a great addition to their team – as well as the clear upgrade of Wilson. But for now, there is a lot of work to do – and interest from clubs that will be disposed of – before anything is over.
