Eddie Howe ‘No 100%’ but delighted to have returned to Newcastle


Eddie Howe says his recent illness was ‘severe’, but he is delighted to return Newcastle United against Ipswich on Saturday.

Howe, 47, Bio Hospitalized with pneumonia And he missed the last three games of Magpies.

Assistants Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones have taken over a victory over Manchester United and Crystal Palace and defeat of the Aston villa.

But Howe came back and said, “I’m okay. I’m not 100% in my body, but I would like to think that I am very close to 100% in my mind, most importantly.

“It has been hard for the last few weeks. I try to take positively from every experience, I think it really matters, but this was a real challenge, because your health you take for granted – I certainly have.

“When you have no luxury to feel normal, it can be very difficult, so I must have gone through a series of emotions. Fortunately, I feel like I’m on my way to recovery, which is the most important thing.

“I am delighted to be here. The staff acted and acted absolutely great, so they are honored and now I come back, I hope I can add something to the group as we enter the last five games.”

Howe says he made a decision after he became ill to completely deviate from his role and not in contact with Tindall and his staff.

He said, “I made zero contact. I made a conscious decision when I did not feel good enough to focus on football to give Jason and all the coaches full responsibility, because for me or all or not all and I couldn’t contribute.

“The care I received from the NHS was absolutely first-class. I can’t thank them enough, they were absolutely great, concern and love I felt from them.

“And, of course, the desire and the textual messages I received from all. I tried to tell everyone to answer everyone, it takes a while!

“I really appreciate it and I’m very grateful.”

Newcastle enters the weekend in fifth place – which would provide the Champions League location for next season.

After playing Ipswich, they have games against Brighton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton that remained.
