Guardiola says the Champions League qualifying qualifying would be a “huge success” after the city leaves late against Everton

Pep Guardiola admitted that the qualifying for the Champions League will be a “huge success” after his Manchester City team moved to the Premier League fourth with a 2-0 win over Everton.

City left him late to grab all three points in his last trip to Goodison Park, with the increasingly influential Nico O’Reilly home home in the 85th minute before replacement Mateo Kovacic sealed points at the time of stopping.

It was mostly an affair, but Guardiola found a way to win because they look to provide the first five endings and ensure a qualification for the elite competition in the European Club football football next season.

In order to achieve the status of the Champions League, the city boss said, it would be a significant achievement.

“In the second half we took a step up, our players scored much better and in the end we found the goals we needed to win in the game,” Guardiola said.

“It is a great success to reach the Champions League in this country, great success. It will not convince me otherwise.

“In the past when we won the Premier League, even when we were six or seven games before we knew we qualified, I always tried to celebrate it because I know how difficult it is.”

Guardiola also quickly highlighted praise for the 20-year-old O’Reilly: “Our fans love Nicoa because they love the Academy players.

“He’s another player who can help us.”

Talking about Everton’s stadium, the city manager admitted that he had several painful memories of previous visits, but added that he would be sad when he saw him.

Guardiola said, “It was really an honor to come here to Goodison Park for many years. Today I was on the field (before the game) looking at the screen, watching all the goals (at Goodison Park over the years) and I said,” Wow! This is English football “”

“My friend (former Toffees chief) Ronald Koeman destroyed me the first time I came here at 4-0, with (Romelu) Lukaku, I remember perfectly. The beginning of the incredible adventure we live in and live for almost more than a decade.”
