Canelo Alvarez says she wants to show the improvements she has made in her game in the last twelve years against Mayweather-Esque Terrence Crawford in September. Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 ko) is still outraged at the suffering of his first loss in pro-line, losing the decision on the majority of 12 rounds Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2013.
If Canelo can beat Crawford, 37, he will prove that he has learned Floyd Jr. from his loss. He would break the code by beating Mayweather 2.0, though an older, less talented version of old fox.
At the time, 23-year-old Canela lacked spice to defeat the cunning, far more experienced 36-year-old Mayweather. He thinks that if he were to fight Floyd in his career in his career, he would have won.
Crawford has a Mayweather style, but with higher power and slow speed. His style is reminiscent of an old legend, and Canela could be problems if he has not developed from that defeat. Although the Mexican star insists that it improves, it does not look like it is.
He just got bigger, older and calculated about choosing his opponents. For example, Canelo never fought against David Benavidez or David Morrel. He struggled with a weaker opposition like John Ryder, Jaimea Munguia and Edgar Berlang.
“It’s a plan. They want it and everyone wants that fight, but in my opinion, I have to take care of the fight for May (William Scull), and then we will see. Who knows what’s going on?” said Canelo Alvarez to Ring Magazine When asked about a potential fight against Terrence Crawford. “I know what people want, but first I have to take care of that fight.”
Canelo said all the time that he did not want to watch his next fight. He knows it would be wrong to assume that he would beat talented cubes because he is no longer spring chicken.
In the last two Alvarez fights against Edgar Berlang and Jaime Munguia, he watched his years after swallowing early. He looked like 24k gold through four rounds, but then slowed down dramatically after that. Because of this, the two managed to cross a full distance of 12 laps.
Canelo had both of them both on the carpet and looked like they would collapse them with ease. 34-year-old Canel’s age caught up at him, preventing him from finishing Berlang and Munguia. We will probably see the same thing in the fight against scales, but this guy has a talent to win based on his technical skills he has learned to grow up in Cuba, fighting with top competition Daily.
“Yes, it could be. To show people that I am now different with the experience with the fighter I am today,” Canelo said about whether the fight against Crawford, who has a similar style as a Floyd Mayweather JR, allowed him to show that he was evolved from losing him in 2013.
“I always think it takes me more years before I struggled with Mayweather. Things happen and I learned a lot. I don’t blame myself because I learned a lot. But yes, that’s the opportunity to show that kind of fighter I am right now,” Canelo said.
