Double Snooker Championship Championships but Carter will return to Crucible 2025 after he went through qualifying
A double finalist of the Snooker World Cup, but Carter, booked a return to Crucible with a 10-5 win over Chinese He Guoqiang in qualifying.
The 45-year-old Englishman opened a four-frame lead, but had to produce a break of 72 to stop the opponent’s leveling after winning the next three.
From 5-3, Carter won five of the next seven, with interruptions of 57, 74, 68 and 69 – hitting the air and shouting “entering” after sinking the final black victory.
After his victory, Carter revealed that he was on the verge of indulging in qualifying two days ago.
“I just had a terrible neck pain, to the extent I was in painful pain by playing against Ian Burn (in the last round) and if I went out 6-3 behind, I will be seriously retired,” he told WST Play.
“I was in agony and it’s still not now. It was not a vintage performance in any move, but I’m going to the next stage.”
Another former double finalist in Crucible, Matthew Stevens, was less fortunate, however, lost in the last round of qualifying Wu yize.
Matthew Stevens was a double winner at the Snooker World Cup 2000 and 2005.
Stevens was exhausted 10-9, losing the decision on the final frame while Matthew Selt He apologized to his opponent Jimmy Robertson after his own victory of 10-9, after returning with 8-3 down.
“I have to apologize and say sorry for Jimmy. He told me something after one of the frames I won. He said I was disturbed and rejected,” he said.
“So this victory has no good sense of her. Jimmy was one of my closest friends, so he feels so strongly to pull me to one side and say something that I feel absolutely terrible to be completely honest with you.
“I do a lot of comments when I play, but it felt strong enough to say something, so I would definitely be wrong.”
Another notable result of the last day of qualifying was a loss of 10-7 Jackson Page Joe O’Connor. The site has previously created history in qualifying when it has become First player to hit two 147 in the same game.
