Swansea moves ‘an exciting opportunity’

Luka Modric says he wants to help Swansea “compete at the highest level” after being surprisingly announced on Monday as a co -owner of The Championship Club.

The 39-year-old Real Madrid midfielder, who won the D’Or in 2018, invested in the club.

He spent the last 13 seasons with Real Madrid and helped them win six Champions League titles after a four -year magic in Tottenham earlier in his distinguished career.

Modric said: “This is an exciting opportunity. Swansea has a strong identity, an amazing fans base and ambition to compete at the highest level.

“Playing at the highest level, I believe I can give my experience to the club.

“My goal is to support the club growth in a positive way and help build a exciting future.”

The Swansea Committee said: “We are delighted that Luka joined our ownership group.

It was clear from our first discussions that there was a reconciliation with our visions and that the port would be a real advantage of our group.

“We would like to thank Luka and his team for support through this procedure and we look forward to welcoming him at the Swansea.com stadium to get to know each other as soon as possible.”

Swansea is 12 in the Championship with the remaining four games, nine points of shy play-offs. The following faced Hull on Good Friday.
