Kevin de Bruyne is determined to ensure that he does not leave Manchester City in a rare position that he missed the Champions League football after orchestrates 5-2 wins over Crystal Palace.
The Premier League has five Champions League qualifying places this season, and City skipped Newcastle United and Chelsea, who were both played on Sunday, in the Top four with a pronounced victory.
However, after 21 minutes it looked like the city would suffer a huge failure because the goals of Eberechi Eze and Chris Richards Palace brought a 2-0 lead.
The eze had a ball in the net for a top third, only that the goal was correctly excluded for the offsid, and this turned out to be a turning point in the game.
De Bruyne, after guessing fasting before eze for exertion, halved the deficit in the 33rd minute, twisting a free kick in the state, then requested Omar Marmoush three minutes later with a consolidated header that enabled the Egyptian to spoil the home.
He then released Mate Kovacic to score 3-2 two minutes after the re-launch, and further goals of James McATee and Nico O’Reilly took care of the points.
De Bruyne announced last week that he would leave the club at the end of the season, and after his extraordinary display, he made it clear what he wanted to give the club as a gift for separation.
“I think we started well, we had a few chances, and nowhere is we lagging behind 2-0, and that could be three,” De Bruyne told BBC Match of the Day.
“The answer was good. I thought we played a pretty good game as a whole, but we gave the chances and they left each other. The reaction was really good and in the end I think we deserved to win.
“I think it was important to achieve the faster and a little change the feeling of the game. I didn’t think we were playing so bad, but the result was good at all. We have gone since then.”
“I want to go with the Champions League for this team because they deserve it. In the Champions League we were nine, 10 years when I was here, so I hope we do it for the team next year and I will just try to play good football as I always did.”
City has played in the Champions League in each of the last 14 seasons, but their hopes that have spread that series of up to 15. They are still in danger despite their victory.
There are two points in front of Chelsea and Newcastle. Chelsea host Ipswich Town on Sunday before Newcastle took over Manchester United at St. James. Magpies then hosted the Palace on Wednesday in his game in his hand.
“We will see the position tomorrow, it will be so tight. It will be until the end. Six games are left, tough games,” said manager Pep Guardiola about the Champions League race until the day.
At the De Bruyne exhibition, he added: “Kevin we have known for many years. I know he has been fighting in recent years and a half. It’s free without pain and completely different. The way we played a lot has helped him with amazing runners, young guys, full of throws.
“I would say we played a really good whole game. We were 2-0 down and we created a lot and I said we played well at halftime.
“Our momentum was fueled by Kevin’s free kick and after that we played a really good game, since we were 2-0 down the statement, since Crystal Palace was in the past games.”
