Melissa Andreatta, an auxiliary coach of Australia’s Matildas, has been announced as a new main coach of a woman in Scotland.
Andreatta is a lasting replacement for Pedro Martinez Los, who was fired in December After failing to qualify for the Euro 2025.
The former Australian coach A-Liga is expected to take over for a time for the Nation of Scotland League against Austria in late May.
The 46-year-old has an extensive resume in the women’s game and supported Tony Gustavsson during the fourth placement in the Australia at the World Cup for women 2023 and last year’s Olympic Games in Paris.
Andreatta said, “I am absolutely delighted to have led the Scottish women’s national team in a new, exciting time.
“It is a real honor to join such a strong program, which you can see from the talent in the senior detachment, which goes through all age groups. This testifies to the work already done by Michael McARDLE and the team.
“The future is definitely bright with my extensive training, talent development and the main experience of the tournament, my goal is to support players and staff to achieve their greatest potential.
“The ambition is to return to Scotland for consistent qualifications, and with teams in the transitional period, this is the perfect opportunity to start building towards that future.”
Women in Scotland reached the big tournament last when Shelley Kerr at the 2019 World Cup in France. It was the second consecutive final look.
Martinez Losa was appointed after Kerr’s team missed the next European Championship, and the Spaniard also lost the World Cup play-off against the Republic of Ireland 2022.
